Merchandise contaminated with Delta-Eight THC or simply dangerous press?
News of Delta-8 THC contaminated products is surfacing all over the internet. Where does this information come from and how valid is this story?
What is Delta-8-THC?
Most people are familiar with Delta-9 THC, the standard THC associated with marijuana, and the psychoactive effects of cannabis. Delta-9 THC is the most abundant cannabinoid found in marijuana and is generally obtained from cannabis plants that are high in THC. Delta 8 THC, on the other hand, is chemically almost the same as Delta-9 with a small difference. Delta-8 has a double bond on its 8th carbon chain and not on its 9th (as with Delta-9). Delta-8 is also found in much smaller quantities, so it can be made from either high-THC marijuana or low-THC hemp. The ability to source it from industrial hemp initially created a loophole in the law for Delta-8, which is known to have effects similar to Delta-9, albeit not quite as intense, and without the anxiety effects that actually prefer Cannabis users who have problems with the fear generated.
In terms of legality, a loophole was created when the Agriculture Act of 2018 separated high-THC marijuana from low-THC hemp to legalize the latter and what is made from it without technically making a THC compound legalize. This was further updated in summer 2020 with new rules. The first point of this update is as follows: “It's changing 21 CFR 1308.11(d) (31) by adding language to say that the definition of "tetrahydrocannabinols" does not include "material, compound, mixture or preparation" falling under the conditions set out in 7 U.S.C. 1639o. "While there is still nothing definite about a specific legalization of Delta-8-THC, this confirms that substances derived from hemp are not definitely THC under US law. In essence, it sets the Delta-8-THC Gap, and the only thing we know about the world around us is that if you give an inch it takes a mile. Gray areas are as good as legal in the world of legal cannabis these days, and so delta can 8-THC can be found in tons of places without a prescription.
So what's the problem?
Recent reports have hit the internet on products contaminated with Delta-8 THC bleach. The report appears to be brief from Julie Helmer, the CEO of Freshbros, which is itself a CBD / hemp company. According to Helmer, there are thousands of Delta-8 products contaminated with bleach that consumers are never aware of. According to Helmer, the reason for the products contaminated with bleach is to remove the naturally pink color from Delta-8, as clear is often a quality feature for distillates.
The main problem with this story is that the only person who seems to think there is a problem is Julie Helmer of Freshbros, a private company that sells these products, and apparently the lead in terms of the "safest" and most "safest" would like to take over. cleanest products. In fact, every article I've written on the subject is only relevant to Helmer's statement, and most of those articles give Freshbros advice on cleaner products, the kind of step that is used to move forward in a market by posting the idea is that only this company would have done or could have done it right.
Take that away
There is currently no official information that the products are contaminated with Delta-8-THC. No test facility, other private company, or third-party monitoring group said anything. The only statement that is made is that of a private company that can gain more market share by denigrating the existing market.
Does this mean that all Delta 8 THC products are safe? Not at all! The best point Freshbros makes is not the point it tried. New products that are not regulated can be tricky, and it's important to keep an eye on manufacturing practices to make sure no corners are cut. Perhaps bleaching is really a problem, but maybe it is not at all … it certainly cannot be seen from the information that is currently being released. More needs to be done in the future to ensure that unregulated cannabis products are not contaminated, contaminated or adulterated in any other form.
